A Night at the Carnival
Five years ago in September, I met a tall, handsome drink of water that would soon become my husband. It was a Sunday morning in a local pub- his eyes were glued to the New England patriots on the tube. And despite the fact that I had never laid eyes on him before, I quickly learned we were both townies, and had crossed paths many times in our lives.
Summer Reset
I don't know about you, but for us, summertime is synonymous with socializing: an endless string of beach days, BBQ's and weekend getaways. And, also for us, socializing most often equals consumption. Yes, folks, my family, friends, and I are consumers to-the-max.
A Sweet Gift with Candyshop
I don't know about you, but shopping for my hubby can be hard. After nearly four years of marriage, we've covered most of the typical gifts to give a significant other- watch, cufflinks, lacrosse gear- check, check, check. OK, lacrosse gear may not be that typical, but nonetheless its already been crossed right off that list.
Monthly Roundup: May In Review
And just like that- we enter the sixth month of the year. Before we know it, 2017 will be half way over. It's crazy how time flies as an adult- I guess raising tiny humans will do that to you.
This May was bitter sweet, for sure. We had beautiful days; and we had gloomy ones. We had perfect beach mornings; and afternoon hailstorms. We celebrated Memorial Day Weekend with family and friends at our local Greenwich Town Party and a perfect lobster boil at our home; but not before we had to tearfully say goodbye to our four-legged fur baby, Henry.
April Showers
It's been a gloomy, rainy week here in Connecticut. And this mama is going a little stir crazy. After a very {very} long winter cooped up with a baby that has now officially entered toddler-hood, I was quite looking forward to spring days spent outside. Unfortunately, this New England weather has different plans, again leaving us up to our own {indoor} devices.
5 Things: I've Learned About Blogging
Over the past few months I've had a few friends join me in this blogging game {yay!} and I've been asked a few questions about what I've found helpful in finding success in this gig. Its taken me a while- roughly two years; and a bunch of mistakes, a lot of wins, and whole lot more to learn.
But there definitely are a few key words I live by when it comes to Lilies and Lambs and my new role as mama/blogger.
March Roundup
OK, Mother Nature. Joke's over. Bring on the spring. These winters in Connecticut have never been my favorite, but lately they seem to be staying way past their welcome. Although this winter didn't keep us snowed in too many times, it just won't seem to end. And bright spring-like days are quickly followed up by cold or rain or snow.
Schedule
A Weekend in San Francisco
If you follow along on Instagram, you know we just wrapped up a quick trip to beautiful San Francisco. It was one of those sweet weekends that made my heart hurt a little when it came to an end. Three days filled with so many of my favorite people from both coasts, the most perfect SF weather you could ask for, and lots of delicious eats and drinks.
Friday Favorites
Just last week we were oh-so close to springtime. And then like that, Winter Storm Stella changes it all.
In terms of winters, this one hasn't been too bad. So one final storm before the seasons change wasn't all that painful. We enjoyed the rest of our firewood, hunkered down, and watched a few movies as a family. There's nothing like having dad home mid-week, particularly when we have a three day weekend away in California to look forward to. Here's hoping that this past snowfall was the true winter finale.
Life Lately
My beautiful mama is en route back home to California, leaving a Nana sized hole in all our hearts here on the east coast.
We had an amazing ten days with our favorite lady- celebrating her birthday in both NYC and CT, enjoying many a lunch date with MM, and whipping up some delicious eats in the kitchen. These visits with her are always too short, no matter how many days we spend together. I never thought I'd be raising my girl so far away from loved ones that mean so much to us, but I will say that we do our best to make the best of it.
Springtime Spruce-Up
You may have noticed this little site of mine has bit of a new look these days:
Some fresh new colors- navy, pink and greys, oh my!- and a brand new logo, complete with its very own little lamb. When I started Lilies and Lambs, I never anticipated it would evolve into its own business. Originally, it was just a little hobby of mine- something to keep me busy and inspired as I journeyed into motherhood.
Friday Favorites
For the second year in a row, all four Christie siblings rallied together to shower our mama with lots of love and laughter for her birthday. Being that a few of us live on opposite sides of the country, its always a special occasion when we can spend a few days in the same zip code.
March First
It's March first, which just so happens to be my sweet mama's birthday. And lucky us, she's in town to celebrate for the next week. Since her arrival we've logged some serious Maddie-Nana time; filled with PJ parties, dancing and way too much chocolate consumption.
Happy Place
If laughter is the best medicine, then unseasonably warm weather in February is a close second.
This past holiday weekend the weather gods graced us Connecticut folk with spectacular sunshine and a well-deserved respite from the cold. MM's dad was away for most of the weekend- enjoying his annual ski trip with the guys in Vermont. But we didn't miss the opportunity to return to the local beach that becomes our second home in the summers.
A Babe + Her Bully
These two have been thick as thieves lately. No doubt about it.
I can't say it was love at first sight. In fact, it took MM quite a few months to even notice Henry existed. But nowadays, she's in love.
Friday Favorites
Our first week into 2017, and we're off to a decent start. Our kiddo classes have begun and I'm officially working on a post detailing our favorite ones in the area. There are so many amazing activities for the littles around here, which will prove useful in the chilly upcoming months. Thursday marked the start of MM's fifth semester of Music Together class. I started taking her when she was just three months old- at first more of an excuse for Mom to leave the house.
