Monthly Roundup: May In Review

May Roundup Lilies and Lambs New England

And just like that- we enter the sixth month of the year. Before we know it, 2017 will be half way over. It's crazy how time flies as an adult- I guess raising tiny humans will do that to you.

This May was bitter sweet, for sure. We had beautiful days; and we had gloomy ones. We had perfect beach mornings;  and afternoon hailstorms. We celebrated Memorial Day Weekend with family and friends at our local Greenwich Town Party and a perfect lobster boil at our home; but not before we had to tearfully say goodbye to our four-legged fur baby, Henry.

And while there was a lot of good, I'm happy to enter this next chapter of 2017.

In a former life, I was never all that fond of this time of year. And then I met a man born on the third of July- one whose love of all things summer is nothing if not infectious. Shortly thereafter, on one June morning two years ago, we met our girl; and I've been addicted to summertime ever since.

Yes, BBQs and crisp rosé; beach-feet and boat rides; celebrating America and all things New England; and of course, singing happy birthday to Madeline Mae, have stolen my heart. Making this next month perhaps one of my very favorites of the year.

Here is what I'm looking forward to this month:

Celebrate

For the last few months I've been gathering inspiration and odds and ends for Madeline's second birthday party. This year will be relatively low-key, as we have a fortieth-birthday soirée later in the evening. I opted to plan a small brunch get-together, and have found the most delicious donuts to serve our guests big and small. Stay tuned for pics and details of our day- I've found a few festive shops to feature that you won't want to miss.

Eat

If you check my instagram stories, then you may know I've already started to enjoy my favorite local fro-yo on the regular. Summertime means a stop at Rosie's Frozen Yogurt or Darlene's Heavenly Desires for a sweet treat to cap off a hot day.

Do

Growing up I can remember taking family trips to our neighboring Bronx Zoo. We have yet to visit with our MM, but I'm looking forward to introducing her to all it has to offer; and feeding the animals with our little girl soon.

Read

Would you believe it if I told you I didn't lift a page in Big Little Lies yet? So much for a Jamaican vacation spent reading. I swear I'll get around to it this month. I think I can, I think I can.

Meet

If you follow along on Instagram, you saw that we, sadly, had to say goodbye to our beloved bulldog, Henry. It was a gut-wrenching decision, and I still can't believe he's gone. Every time I walk through the door, I still expect to hear his perfect bully-snores. And while our heart still aches for him, we did the only thing we could think of to ease the pain: we bought a puppy. She arrives sometime around the end of June, and we just can't wait to meet her. So if you're into puppy pics, be sure to check back in.
