A Week In Nevis
This post has been a long time coming!
If you follow along on Instagram, you may have noticed we spent a week as a family in Nevis, located in the heart of the Caribbean. We fell instantly in love- the people, the vistas, the food and the energy all made for one of the most amazing family vacations. It was the perfect combination of action and tranquility- perfect for traveling with the littles. Sure, it can take a trek to get there- plane, and car and boat, oh my- but once you're there, it is so worth it.
It only took a couple of months, but I finally uploaded all my pictures and gathered a few of my Nevisian Must-Do's for you.
Here's how we spend a week in Nevis:
STAY
Four Seasons Resort Nevis: This trip was our second to Nevis, and our first staying at the rooms at the Four Seasons. Like most Four Seasons properties, this one does not disappoint. The rooms are beautiful, the beds are the comfiest, the food is delicious and the amenities are top notch. Our first trip several- like 15, yikes I feel old- years ago, we stayed at the FS villas, which were just as beautiful as the rooms and were perfect in their own way. If you're a family traveling with a few small kiddos, the villa is a great option; and the resort will stock your kitchen or arrange a chef as you need, which can be ideal when traveling with littles.
DO
Charter a Catamaran: One of the perks of staying at the FS is that they offer, and will arrange, an array of activities for you during your stay. This time around we opted for an evening ride on a catamaran, Spirit of St. Kitts. It made for the most beautiful night, filled with great music, yummy Rum Punch and a stunning sunset.
Golf with Monkeys: You don't need to be in Nevis too long before you make a monkey friend or two. You'll find these cute little animals all across the island- from the beach to the bars and a few spots in between. And if you head to the FS Robert Trent Jones course for a round, you'll notice a few monkey buds cheering you on.
Rent a Beach House: AKA a beach cabana. These beachside cottages were a life saver during our trip. We rented one most days, and it definitely helped us get the most out of our time at the beach. The cottages are fully stocked, and offer food and beverage service from a private butler- allowing us to drink and dine oceanside. The houses themselves provided refuge from the sun for MM during nap time, and a TV provided her some entertainment between swims. And if you're in the mood for some extra relaxation, you can treat yourself to hand and food reflexology in the privacy of your cottage.
Kids For All Seasons: Unfortunately, MM missed the cut off for this complimentary FS kids program. But we were able to accompany her into the play room at the resort and she never wanted to leave. FS Nevis provides daily programs for kids ages 3-9, including games, painting and scavenger hunts, and MM will be thrilled to join in the fun on our next trip.
Eat & Drink
Bananas: Our favorite restaurant off-property, nestled in the Nevisian mountainside. The food is outstanding- fresh fish and delicious Caribbean jerk chicken and the view is incomparable. Go early to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset on their rooftop deck.
Mango: My favorite restaurant located at the FS Nevis. Mango is located beachside, and serves some of the best local seafood around. And their Nevisian Margarita is one for the books.
Sunshine's Beach Bar: You cannot go to Nevis and not stop by Sunshine's for an infamous Killer Bee rum punch. It's a short walk along the beach from the Four Seasons, and is a kid friendly option during the day. The food menu is casual- chicken wings, grilled cheeses, fish sandwiches etc- but delicious. And there's nothing quite like an afternoon of beachside corn hole with the locals while enjoying a cocktail or two.
