A week on Nantucket
STAY
Our virgin trip to Nantucket was hosted by my mama in celebration of Philip's big 4-0. Because our crew included the whole fam, it was most convenient to rent a property on VRBO with a few different cottages for our families to spread out in. With a group that large, it was really the only way to go. It was within walking distance to several beaches, the town and the brewery, which was perfect.
That being said, I think next time we'll stay at a hotel closer to town- we've already booked a long weekend at The Nantucket Hotel, which we love in part due to their location and two pools.
DO
- Visit Cisco Brewery- We went for the beer, and stayed for the frosé and Triple Eight Blueberry vodka drinks. And the food trucks of course. It was just a short walk from our house, and it was a great place for the kids to run around while we tasted some drinks and listened to music.
- Beach- We spent our beach days at Surfside Beach. The surf was slightly rough for MM, but it was beautiful and not too crowded. And the food service was a win.
- Drive to Sconset- Of course it decided to rain the day we headed to Sconset. But before the rain fell down we were able to get a quick tour of the adorable little town and a few good pics of the Sankaty Head Lighthouse. Next time we'll be sure to schedule a trip out to this part of the island for a walk or bike ride up to the lighthouse.
- Shop, Shop, Shop- I really couldn't get enough of all the adorable shops in town. From big names like Ralph Lauren and Vineyard Vines to smaller boutiques like Skinny Dip and our local Abigail Fox Designs, there were so many sweet stores to spend the afternoon perusing.
EAt & drink
- Lobster Boil: With such a large crew, we decided to entertain at the house a few nights. It was easiest with the kiddos and let us all operate without such a strict schedule. Our fam loves a good lobster boil, so our first official night was catered by local Sayles Seafood. The food was delicious- and the clam chowder was hands down the best we've ever had.
- Millies Taco Truck: Phil's actual birthday was catered by Millie's Taco Truck. And it did not disappoint. Their street corn kept us all coming back for seconds, and their fish and steak tacos were ah-mazing.
- Galley Beach: One night us ladies left the kiddos at home with the boys and headed to Galley Beach to enjoy some cocktails and watch the sunset. The drinks- and sunset- lived up to the hype; and the outside lounge is the perfect place for some island people watching.
- Cru: Best lobster roll on the island. And their bloody isn't too shabby either.
- Greydon House: This Nantucket newbie was quite possibly the best meal we had on island. The pasta, fish and homemade bread were perfection. And the IG-worthy cocktail served up in a bronze pineapple was a must.
- The Juice Bar: There was no way I could travel to Nantucket and miss out on the world famous ice cream from The Juice Bar. Yes, the line looks scary. Yes, it goes faster than you think. And YES, it is worth the wait.
- Breeze Restaurant at The Nantucket Hotel: By far the best kid's menu I've seen- possibly ever. Their lobster salad was delicious and the cocktails hit the spot.
- Brant Point Grill at White Elephant: One of the best locations for a great meal the adjacent lawn with corn hole made the perfect location for upscale dining with the kiddos. And their brunch buffet- complete with waffles, and pastries and some of the best eggs around- was on point.
