Weekend Recap
After traveling a bunch the entire month of May and the beginning of June, we finally had a full family weekend at home. And it was just what we needed.
Friday we celebrated Maddie’s birthday with a super low key get together at the house with family. We grilled and enjoyed some good old fashion Carvel ice cream cake and enjoyed our first official BBQ of the season at our house.
Saturday we hosted Maddie’s birthday with her friends at Green Moon in Rowayton. We’ve been big fans of Green Moon for years now- Maddie has loved her art classes with Miss Jackie since she was itty bitty, and I’ve raved about them here and here- but this was our first time hosting a birthday at her adorable studio. And it was perfect. Most parents dropped their kids before heading to nearby Rowayton Seafood for a bloody or mimosa while the littles did their thing. During the party, the kiddos were so entertained by all the different art stations- personalized to fit our theme, unicorns and rainbows- before enjoying pizza and cake. And the cake was perfection. As usual, we ordered from our favorite local baker/artist, Andrena from Crazy Confections. Her cakes and cookies never disappoint, but this unicorn rainbow cake was beyond. And it tasted just as good as it looked.
Sunday we spent celebrating our favorite guy with a lazy morning at home followed by an afternoon at the polo grounds. We’ve been to polo a few times as a family, but this was by far one of our favorites- in spite of the rain showers here and there. The food, catered by Palmers in Darien, was delicious; the music was everything we wanted and more, and Maddie had the best time running around and watching all the beautiful ponies. It was the perfect way to spend Father’s Day together as a family, and reminded me of just how fun Sundays at the polo grounds can be.
I hope you all had the best weekend and Father’s Day. And cheers to a beautiful week ahead!
