A Fall Picnic
This past weekend I had the pleasure of throwing a fall picnic in celebration of our very special twin nieces’ birthdays.
As fellow autumn lovers, I envisioned an outdoor, rustic vibe for them that was laid-back and whimsical enough for their pre-teen fancies. I’ve attempted to execute a backyard picnic in the past; and I can assure you, it is no easy feat. So this time around I enlisted the help of Dream and Party- a local event planner, party rental, design visionary all in one.
Josefina and her team at Dream and Party really are a one-stop shop. After a few initial discussions about what we wanted, she completely understood our vision; and designed the fall fête of our dreams. And despite the summer heat that lingered throughout the day, she somehow managed to bring all the fall feelings-down to the pumpkin-laden tables and apple-filled gift baskets.
It was pumpkins, and corn husks and hay bales galore- just as I had envisioned. The wooden picnic table flanked with cushions made for the perfect little meeting area- with table settings fit for any adult. The roomy tee-pees were outfitted with beautiful sunflowers and pumpkin garlands, and housed comfy pillows for the girls to lounge on- and take respite from the ever-present summer sun.
It was the perfect backdrop for a great day of fun, and I’m already brainstorming what themes we can come up with for our Madeline’s fourth. Or maybe even mom’s 34th later this year...

Earlier this week Maddie and I sat down and came up with some ideas for our summer. She’s enrolled in a few camps here and there, but for the most part we don’t have many plans and I’m really looking forward to some quality time together, just us two.
Always one to level up the fun, Maddie suggested we put all of our ideas in a “Summer Bucket List Jar,” and on unscheduled days we will draw from it and let fate decide what we do… Genius!
