Five Local: Eats
If I’m being honest, I’d say about ninety percent of our social life revolves around meals. A lot of our family life does, too, as a matter of fact. We’re into food- from green juices to meat and cheese plates and everything in between. If we get a sitter, we are grabbing a quick bite and a few good drinks. And when we don’t, we’ve found a few great local spots that are completely Maddie-friendly, too.
Here are five of my favorite local eateries.
I’d love to hear yours! Comment below and let me know!
The Family Favorite
who
what
We have been going to Lugano since the first days they opened. We brought MM there on our first dinner out as a family when she was just 3 months old; and we’ve been hooked ever since. The scene is totally kid friendly while remaining upscale; and the food never disappoints. But if you have a sitter, don’t miss out on their amazing happy hour 7 days a week. For dinner I tend to stick to the salumi platter appetizer and then the grilled salmon; Phil has a hard time straying from the Penne a la Vodka. And for happy hour I’m hooked on their martinis, the Green Lady and the tuna tartar and roasted truffle sprouts.

The healthy start
who
what
Green smoothies, avocado toast, and all the yogurt parfaits you could think of. This is one of my favorite healthy eateries in town. I can get something light while Philip can satiate his sweet tooth and leave feeling full. Some of my favorites include the Crunchy Elvis, The Shrek Smoothie and the Matcha Latte.

My local Granola Bar is located at 41 Greenwich Avenue. Find a list of all locations here.
The Poodle
who
what
Le Fat Poodle is another great local spot for date night or weekend lunch as a family. I wouldn’t say they’re intentionally child-friendly- there’s no kid’s menu here- but we’ve brought Maddie more than a few times and have never had a problem. If we do bring her, we like to go super early to beat the crowds. In terms of food- you can’t go wrong with the steak frites. And if it’s someones birthday in your party, be sure to let your waiter know for a fun surprise.

The Pizzeria
who
what
Fortina is one of our favorite spots for an elevated pizza pie. They do have traditional cheese, but we like to try their specialities like prosciutto and arugula or the one with sausage, peppers, onions and sesame. They also have a great array of apps, speciality cocktails and a ton of beers. This is another spot where you can take your kids; but definitely go early, it can get a bit loud.

We tend to visit their Stamford location most often; but we’ve been to the Rye Brook location a few times too. For a full list of locations click here.
The Grab + Go
who
what
If you grew up in Greenwich, you know about the deliciousness that is the black bread sandwiches at Alpen. They’re the perfect stop before heading to the beach or a picnic at Binney. My favorites are Rondele and Stilton; Phil typically goes Russian or Gobbler. But we never stray from that black bread. It’s too good.
