Jamaican Vacation
If you follow along on Instagram, then you know we just wrapped up a sunny five-day trip to beautiful Jamaica.
Full disclosure: we were total vacation-crashers. My younger sister, P, had planned on this trip for some time- a tropical getaway to watch one of her dearest childhood friends tie the knot. She generously invited my crew along in passing; and being that we've been cooped up for most of a long, long winter and gloomy spring, we jumped at the opportunity to hop on board.
Growing up, many of my classmates would spend their Spring Break in Jamaica- coming back perfectly tanned with tales of beach antics and Red Stripes. So to say its been on my vacation wish list for a long time is an understatement. In terms of traveling with kiddos, its a dream. The direct flight from JFK to MBJ is pretty painless- and you gain an hour to spend by the beach when you get there, too.
We stayed at the beachfront Half Moon resort- perhaps one of the most kid-friendly resorts I've been to with the babe. The property boasts an incredible children's village, complete with playgrounds, pools, and different camp programs for kids to learn and play. And while our MM didn't enroll in camp activities per se, each and every staff member we encountered was beyond sweet to our girl, and she did enjoy a some quality time with dad on the swings and slides while mom went to the gym.
Most of our vacation was spent on property- with most of that time spent between the beach and bar. But we did travel off-property one afternoon to explore the nearby Rose Hall Great House. Being that much of our crew is big into ghost stories- this requires its own post all together- we had many requests to visit the supposedly haunted plantation. Truthfully, I was skeptical about toting our toddler on a ghost-hunting adventure- but it was a trip that was enjoyed by all. The grounds are gorgeous, the lore was fascinating, and the Witch's Brew served at the conclusion of the tour was just delicious.
In fact, most of the food and drink we partook in throughout our stay was on point. The breakfast buffet at Seagrape Terrace was our go-to way to start our day. It had all a family could ask for you in terms of buffets- tropical fruits, waffles, eggs, all the baked goods, and a build-your-own Bloody Mary Bar, to boot. For dinner, the resort's Il Giardino was amazing for mom-and-dad's date night- delicious wine, amazing burrata and fresh local fish.
When not tasting the food and drinks, you could be sure to find us in the water- that girl of ours is a fish. Seriously, she would swim all day if she could. We split our time between our suite's private pool and the beach, which was just steps off our back patio. The combination of the two keeping our girl busy for hours on our family's island getaway.
