The 24-Hour Staycation
Admittedly, there have been more than a few times over the last few years that I've fantasized about a night to ourselves in a hotel- complete with comfy robes and room service, all kid-free. But seeing as I also have some sincere separation anxiety when it comes to my little, the times I've left her for more than a few hours at a time have been few and far between.
So when my husband and I got to planning a quick trip away from our girl, the options that were both luxe but not-too-far-away weren't many. But after a little bit of research, I decided to give The Ritz-Carlton New York, Westchester a try. The beautiful hotel and spa is just a few short miles away from our home in Connecticut- and gave us all the amenities of a five-star big-city getaway without the stress of having to be too far from MM.
We checked into our beautiful one-bedroom suite in the late afternoon, after a full day as a family. Leaving us the rest of the afternoon and evening just the two of us. We enjoyed a delicious cocktail in the lobby bar, followed by a mouth-watering dinner at the hotel's own BLT Steak {the popovers are to-die-for}- all before 6pm. The rest of the day was spent spa-ing- my Organic Facial with Alexandra was absolutely the best I've ever had- followed by a much needed bubble bath and dessert in bed.
And because we are sleep deprived grown-ups these days, we turned in relatively early; tuning in to the hotel's Netlix before we fell asleep like two solid rocks in one of the most comfortable beds we've been in.
All-in-all it was a 24-hours well spent- a relaxing and efficient way to recharge and reboot. Leaving this mama counting down the minutes until our next staycation very soon.
How to: 24-Hour staycation
where to stay
The Ritz-Carlton New York, Westchester: This elegant hotel is under thirty minutes from both Greenwich, CT and NYC- complete with indoor rooftop pool, fitness center and beautiful lobby bar. The amenities and accommodations are top-of-the line, and the food options both in and around the hotel are all you could ask for from a big city.
where to eat + Drink
BLT Steak: Yum, yum, yum. My husband and I enjoyed the perfect glass of red before diving into a fresh crab meat ceviche, followed by a Porterhouse for him and short ribs with lobster for her. Everything was delicious. Particularly the jalapeño mashed potatoes special.
Serafina: The well-known NYC eatery, famous for its delicious pizzas, is now in Westchester- right next door to The Ritz-Carlton. If you're in the mood for pizza or a great glass of wine, this is your place.
Mediterraneo: This Mediterranean restaurant boasts a beautifully modern ambience in their three-story location. One of my favorite local restaurants in Greenwich, CT as well, this is a great option for dinner or a drink at the bar.
The Lounge @ The Ritz-Carlton New York, Westchester: A great location for a hot cup of coffee while reading the morning paper, or for a cocktail and appetizer by their indoor fire.
What to do
The Ritz-Calrton New York, Westchester Spa: Gorgeous spa with knowledgeable and skilled technicians. As a long-time lover of Eminence products, I was highly impressed with their Organic Facial and my aesthetician, Alexandra's, ability to tackle my troublesome skin. I will definitely be returning for a follow-up facial soon.
Thank you to The Ritz-Carlton New York, Westchester for hosting us. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
