Five Festive Things You Still Have Time To Do
Christmas is in five days, and I really can't believe it. It's crazy how time flies the older you get- and times that by ten when you start to have a tiny tribe of your own. We've been hardcore about Christmas activities this year, starting way back before Thanksgiving when we took a trip on the Polar Express in Essex, CT. Yes, this year we've covered a lot of holiday territory; and in case you're in need of a little last minute cheer, I've compiled a list of five {semi-local} things you still have time to do before the big day arrives:
Radio City Christmas Spectacular
A long-time family tradition for our family. I remember absolutely loving going to the show every year as a little girl; and it's even more magical now that we can bring our MM along. She's obsessed with all the lights and music and "ballerinas." Add a NYC brunch or dinner to the mix and its the perfect December day.
Shows runs through Jan 1.
Greenwich Reindeer Festival
I've mentioned before {here} our love for events at our local Sam Bridge Nursery- their Halloween Pumpkin Patch is a longtime favorite. This year we brought our girl to their Reindeer Festival and she had the best time meeting Santa, riding the carousel, and snacking on cotton candy. If you live close by, its a definite must before the season is over!
Festival runs through December 23.
Reindeer Food @ Abigail Fox Designs
If you're local to Greenwich, then you're probably familiar with Abigail Fox Designs in Old Greenwich. It's one of my go-to shops for little trinkets, hostess and housewarming gifts and stocking stuffers. Abby carries the most adorable little gifts for everyone on your list; and she gets all decked out for the season, too. If you have a little one, you can stop in for some homemade "Reindeer Food" - the perfect way to finish that last minute shopping while keeping the kiddos entertained.
Stop in now through December 24 for your free Reindeer Food.
Holiday workshops @ Green Moon Art Studio
I've raved about this adorable local art class before- and it's still one of MM's very favorite ki-kid-classes to date. And now that school is out for December break, I'm super excited for her to try some of GM's drop-in art classes over the next few weeks. If you're looking for something festive for the littles, there are holiday-themed classes Thursday, December 21 and Friday, December 22 and regular drop-in classes December 26-29.
Classes vary, see full schedule here.
George Balanchine's The Nutcracker®
This year one of my closest friends treated MM and I to an afternoon at the ballet. It was my first time seeing The Nutcracker, and it was beautiful. Madeline was in awe of all the pretty ballerinas and little Sugar Plum Fairies; and mom didn't mind a glass of champagne {or two} and a festive afternoon in NYC.
Performances running through December 31.
** Side Note: The Essex Steam Train's Polar Express is one of my VERY favorite holiday activities to do with the kiddos. It's affordable, entertaining, magical, and downright adorable. Plus, they serve adult beverages. The only caveat- it sells out quick. Like, in September. Which is why it isn't officially part of this list. So do yourself a favor and "Like" them on Facebook {here} today, so you'll be on alert to buy tickets next year. You can thank me later.
