Two
Over the weekend we celebrated our girl's second birthday. And I just can't stop asking myself: but really, where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday we were assembling layers of her smash cake, wondering how our newborn babe had grown up so fast. And it just doesn't slow down.
Splish-Splash
It's been a scorcher here in New England. The past few days reaching close to a humid 100 degrees. And as much as this mama wants to stay indoors with the AC cranked, cozied up with a comfy blanket, my MM has different plans. Our chickadee, who recently turned two over the weekend, lives for being outdoors. And it breaks my heart to keep her all cooped up inside.
To The Moms That Tried To Comfort Me: I Get You Now
Throughout my fertility journey I enjoyed a rollercoaster of feelings and emotions, many of which were new to me entirely. And as a result, it momentarily changed me- the very essence of who I was at times; inevitably shifting the relationships I had with those around me. Particularly when it came to my more fertile counterparts.
Monthly Roundup: May In Review
And just like that- we enter the sixth month of the year. Before we know it, 2017 will be half way over. It's crazy how time flies as an adult- I guess raising tiny humans will do that to you.
This May was bitter sweet, for sure. We had beautiful days; and we had gloomy ones. We had perfect beach mornings; and afternoon hailstorms. We celebrated Memorial Day Weekend with family and friends at our local Greenwich Town Party and a perfect lobster boil at our home; but not before we had to tearfully say goodbye to our four-legged fur baby, Henry.
Personal Touches with Caseapp
After my MM was born, my sister gifted me a beautiful iPhone case covered in photos of my little babe. It was one of my most prized possessions, and a great way to quickly show friends and acquaintances some of my favorite pics of my girl.
Pops of Color
This past weekend I was able to sneak away for a few hours for some much needed mommy-time. My husband happily took our little to watch our local high school's lacrosse team play, while I took care of a few overdue errands: a manicure, pedicure and spin class followed by a trip to our newly-opened Macy's Backstage.
Friday Faves: MM's Room
TGIF- ammiright?
It's been an exhausting week with this girl of ours. I thought days filled with outdoor activities would tire her out a bit... but not so much. Does anyone else have a toddler that goes nonstop all day long? I guess in the long run, its a good thing. And in the meantime, there's always a much-deserved glass of rosé al fresco as the sun goes down. But I digress.
My Beach Mate
Happy almost-weekend, friends!
Does anyone else feel like it suddenly transformed into summer overnight? After months of hoping and wishing for a little sunshine to come our way, it finally arrived here in Connecticut. And boy, it was worth it. MM and I didn't miss a beat, and went right back into our summer routine: early mornings spent as the first ones at the beach, with just enough time to soak it all in before it gets way too hot.
Schedule
Jamaican Vacation
If you follow along on Instagram, then you know we just wrapped up a sunny five-day trip to beautiful Jamaica.
Full disclosure: we were total vacation-crashers. My younger sister, P, had planned on this trip for some time- a tropical getaway to watch one of her dearest childhood friends tie the knot.
At Home With Ring
Being a stay-at-home mom has its benefits, for sure. I can stay in my PJ's as long as I want. Athleisure-wear is totally acceptable work attire. I can sneak in some DVR'd Bravo during naptime. And, best of all, I get to spend the whole day with my favorite little human.
Mother's Day Gift Guide
Mother's Day is just a few days away, and I can't believe it will be the second one I will celebrate as Madeline's mom. This year will be especially happy, as we will be celebrating with my mama in tow- three generations of ladies. Last year I was so overwhelmed with new feelings of motherhood, that all I really wanted to do was hold my little one for Mother's Day.
In My Bag: Tropical Vacation Essentials
It's officially May; and yet the weather here in New England has remained somewhat gloomy and just a touch chilly. I've been in full wanderlust mode over here- daydreaming of an island vacation in the tropics So the chance at a quick beach getaway with the family couldn't have come at a better time.
Mother's Day Giveaway
I can't believe it's that time of year again. Mother's Day is just around the corner. Meaning another year has flown by, and my Madeline Mae will be two before I know it. It's crazy how quickly the time can pass when you're raising tiny humans.
So in honor of my second year in this tribe called motherhood I decided to bring you a fun Mother's Day Giveaway.
April Showers
It's been a gloomy, rainy week here in Connecticut. And this mama is going a little stir crazy. After a very {very} long winter cooped up with a baby that has now officially entered toddler-hood, I was quite looking forward to spring days spent outside. Unfortunately, this New England weather has different plans, again leaving us up to our own {indoor} devices.
i said what?
Just shy of two years ago, I became a mom. It was the greatest day of my life, for sure. And it changed me to my very core.
Some changes were temporary, others more permanent; some physical, many emotional. All of them for the better.
And over the past two years, I've found myself doing, saying, and feeling things I would have never thought I would do, say, or feel before. But if there's one thing I've learned about motherhood, it's to expect the unexpected, and embrace it.
The 24-Hour Staycation
Admittedly, there have been more than a few times over the last few years that I've fantasized about a night to ourselves in a hotel- complete with comfy robes and room service, all kid-free. But seeing as I also have some sincere separation anxiety when it comes to my little, the times I've left her for more than a few hours at a time have been few and far between.
