Lila Lee
Four weeks ago today we welcome this sweet little bean into the world- Lila Lee, born 9.6.19. On her due date, no less.
And, so far, it’s been an absolute dream. From the beginning.
There have been some growing pains for sure- transitioning from a family of three to a family of four after so many years with just our first girl.
I had forgotten what this newborn haze feels like- the adjustment to an entirely new world; all the different emotions; the tears of joy and exhaustion; the aching arms; the growing hearts.
And everything in between.
But, more than anything, I’ve been overwhelmed with love and so much gratitude that she’s here- that these three beautiful beings are mine.
And, this time around, I know just how quickly these stages will pass- that one day we will sleep again; that she won’t always need us in this newborn way. So, tired as we may be, I’m just soaking it all in- growing pains, baby toes and all.
Almost a year ago my family and I left home in Connecticut to quarantine in California.
It was a polarizing choice; one that we struggled to make. Some disagreed. Others applauded it. But ultimately it was a legal one, and we travelled in the safest way possible; for the sake of our family.
It didn’t take long before a NYT reporter, and former classmate of mine, blasted me and my choices all over her page.
