How I Fell In Love With Blogging {Again}
About a month ago I had an epiphany.
After quite some time of agonizing over Instagram- obsessing over engagement and growth and comparing myself to my peers- I decided to redirect my focus back to my blog, where it all began.
You see, at some point over the last few years I got a little too caught up in the Instagram game- the pretty little squares; the instant gratification of several hundred likes; the rush of hitting 10k followers. And then another.
But likes and followers aren’t why I started this space- far from it. I started Lilies and Lambs as a way to share my story and connect, back when I needed it most. And somewhere along the way this purpose got buried.
Instagram isn’t my bread and butter- it’s an extension of my blog; of my brand. And it’s not in my control.
And as a writer and a mother and all the other things I am, I can’t be consumed with a struggle over changed algorithms or whether I’m shadowbanned; I never want to resort to appeals to my readers for likes on my posts, even though they are, sadly, very much linked to the livelihood of my brand.
And I don’t want to lay awake at night wondering what will happen when they do away with likes altogether.
So over the last few months I’ve thrown myself back into this space- the one right here. The one that I own and can control.
The one that I created as a new mom; to share stories of TTC, of trials and successes, of tired new-motherhood and growing pains and musings and everything in between.
And it’s been more fulfilling than any amount of likes on a feed- to breathe new life into this purposeful space and connect with my readers over our respective journeys.
So thank you for those of you that continue to support me through reading these very words- you’re the motivation behind this blog; this brand.
And I’ll continue writing and posting and creating for as long as you’ll have me.
xx

Just a few weeks ago we celebrated six months in our new home. On March 14, to be exact. I cannot believe we have lived here for half a year. It’s still so crazy at times to think we moved our little family of four, plus two fur babies, down south in the middle of a pandemic. But did it we did, and are so happy to be in our cozy home and to finally enjoy a bit of a routine. It was a tad hectic there for a bit- with so many changes and so little routine- but over the last few months we’ve found our groove again, and we’ve made a few simple changes that has helped make life just a little bit easier these days.
