July Roundup

July Roundup Lilies and Lambs

Wow, this past month flew by.

Feels like summer started just yesterday; but here we are, welcoming August already. July always starts with a bang for us- yes, because of the fourth; and all the BBQs and fireworks it brings. But also because the third is my husband's birthday. And he's never met a birthday bash he didn't like. This year, his birthday also brought the arrival of our newest family member, our fur baby named Georgia. Who, despite a few chewed shoes and holes dug in the backyard, has been a complete joy and perfect addition to our little family.

Along with some beautiful fall-like weather, and a whole lot of rosé, here are a few things our July brought us:

MM's First Sleepover:  Growing up in CT with parents that were both native Californians, we never had much family around on the regular. Ever since I was a little girl,  I would dream of someday raising my own kids with my mom and family close by. After years of hoping and praying, my mama moved back into town- shortly after all my siblings found their way back to CT, as well. So now MM has plenty of extended family around to shower her with love on the daily; and Mom has a bevy of extra hands to help out from time to time. This month MM had her first official overnight at her Nana's house, allowing Mom and Dad a date night at one of our favorite local Mexican restaurants, Boxcar Cantina. If you're local, you'll want to stop by and grab the Super Chief Margarita and the fajitas. Have kids? Go early and bring them along- its loud, delicious, and super kid-friendly.

Family Boat Ride: Just this past weekend we took MM on her very first boat ride on the Sound. It was the first time since before I was pregnant that I set foot on a boat, and our MM's very first time out at sea. For a girl who loves all things that go, she was in absolute heaven. And for my husband, the consummate sea-lover, he was beaming with pride to see our girl filled with so much joy on the water.

BOB'ing Around: I've owned this BOB stroller of mine since before our MM was born. And while it's been my go-to stroller for the better part of a year and a half, I've never actually run with it. Yes, I've run next to my husband while he's pushed it. But I've never been in the driver's seat. This past month I started taking it out for a few  tried and true spins;  and I love it. It's a great way to get a workout in when I don't have a sitter or sister to watch our girl. And there are few things better than a coastal run.

Mommy Time: July brought some much needed relaxation for this mama, as I finally cashed in on the Mother's Day package the hubs got me in May. I indulged in a morning at our local Delamar Hotel spa for a facial and 60-minute massage. Despite having grown up in this town, it was my first time visiting the Delamar spa, and it was ah-mazing. If you're local, you'll want to visit my aesthetician, B, who gave me one of the best facials of my life.

PS: #notsponsored by any means. Just really loved this spa, and will definitely be going back.

Good Humor: You just don't see enough ice cream trucks anymore. Growing up, I can remember hearing the sound of that Good Humor truck a mile away and getting excited as can be. So when I stumbled upon this vintage truck in our local park over the fourth, I called my husband right away to bring our girl over. Sure, she had ice cream for breakfast; but more importantly, she had a blast. And really, what's the harm in a little frozen milk before 10 a.m?
