Life Lately

At the risk of upsetting the Endless Summer crowd, we have one month left until school starts and I, for one, am excited for the next chapter to start. It’s no secret it gets hot as Hades down here in South Carolina- nothing like a humid, 95 degree morning to start your day- so this is just about the time when I start dreaming of the “-er” months.

We’ve made the most of the last few weeks- a family trip to Nantucket, lots of pool time, and several fun camps for the kiddos- but there’s just something about the start of school and the page turning to fall that really fills my cup. In the meantime, here is a slice of our life lately:

See

We took Maddie to see Barbie this past weekend and she LOVED it. A little on the long side, but over all it was entertaining for all of us. There were a few references and jokes that were a little inappropriate, but they all went over Maddie’s head- so just keep that in mind.

At home, I recently started Feud: Bette and Joan on Hulu, and I’ve gone down a old Hollywood rabbit hole that I cannot escape. If you like Ryan Murphy, this is a good one.

Do

A few months ago we took family photos with local photographer Amanda Kay. These crab dock photos are some of my very favorite- I’m obsessed with how she captured the girls- especially Lila. If you’re looking for family pics, I highly recommend her.

Eat

While we’re still in a heavy rotation of our tried and true favorites- Post House, Sullivan’s Fish Camp and Hall’s- we’ve added newbie BarPizza to the mix. The wood fire pizza, pastas and hand spun milkshakes are a hit for the whole family.

Celebrate

We’re celebrating the end of summer with a small sleepover for Maddie and a few of her friends. If you’re local to Charleston, I highly recommend my girl Heather at Pop Up Parties of Charleston. She’s planning the Barbie sleepover of Maddie’s dreams, and I can’t wait to share.
