5 Books I've Read recently
At the beginning of this year I decided to get back into reading.
I've never been much of a habitual reader, per se- Bravo almost always beats out a good book- but the amount of books I had read in the past few years was borderline embarrassing. And I had watched all the Bravo.
So I gathered a list of a few books {here} that I had wanted to read in 2018. Five to be exact. And while I haven't gotten around to all those particular books, I have read five since the New Year. Between a few quiet plane rides without MM, and a new night time reading ritual, I've gotten into a small literary groove. And I've really feeling it.
Here are the five books I've read recently:
The Woman in the Window by A.J Finn : An unbelievable thriller that I couldn't put down. There were jaw-dropping, tearful moments and unrelenting twists. A must read. {5/5}
The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin : A departure from my typical genre of choice, this family saga follows the lives of four siblings after an encounter with a local gypsy where they learn the respective dates of their deaths. I fell in love with the journeys of half of the siblings, while the other two left a bit to be desired. Nonetheless, it was a beautiful tale that leaves one thinking about mortality and choosing to live each day to the fullest. {4.5/5}
The Perfect Nanny by Leila Slimani : Equal parts addictive and disturbing, this one tells the gut-wrenching story of the perfect nanny gone horribly awry. As a mother, it left me somewhat haunted; but I couldn't put it down. {4/5}
The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen : An easy, addictive read with plenty of twists and turns. Another hugely entertaining thriller that's a page-turner for sure, even if somewhat unbelievable. {3.5/5}
One of us is Lying by Karen M. McManus : The literary equivalent of the guiltiest of Bravo pleasures. This one's pure bubblegum, but it was a nice departure from thinking for a few hours. If you're into the Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars, this one's for you. {3.5/5}
