Five Local- New Year’s Wellness in the Suburbs

Thank you to Suburban Jungle for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.

Just a few more weeks left in 2018, and it’s already got me thinking about a few goals for the New Year. Typically, I’m not one for resolutions, but the past few years I’ve taken a liking to setting intentions for the upcoming year- activities I can add to my routine; habits I can incorporate into my daily life; ways to make time for me over the next twelve months.

This month I’ve teamed up with Suburban Jungle to share some of my favorite wellness outlets in Fairfield County- some are my tried and true, others I eagerly await to integrate into my life in 2019.

Here are five local ways to wellness in the New Year:

The Bike Class

who

SoulCycle

what

The dimly lit stationary bike class mixed with a lot of dance party, a little bit of therapy, and the energy of all the caffeine. SoulCycle has been a favorite of mine for years- it helped me through the emotional strain of infertility and then helped me shed those pounds after we finally got our girl. If you’re into high intensity, black lights, and EDM meets rap: Conor’s your guy.

The Zen

Who

Inner Light Wellness

What

This peaceful, beautiful space has become one of my go-to’s when I’m in need of some calming, me-time. Inner Light in Darien provides private, full-spectrum infrared saunas as well as an airy boutique with goodies for all your wellness needs. I love popping in for a 25-minute express session when I need to quiet my mind and just simply breathe.

Where

1101 Post Road, Darien, CT

The Foodie

Who

Kinney Lane Foods

What

I had been on the hunt for a local healthy and delicious prepared food option for some time when I came across Kinney Lane Foods. Most prepared meals I had previously tried missed the mark on tastiness; but Kinney Lane hits it out is the park- their Cauliflower “fried” rice is one of my favorites and their meatballs are a home run for the whole family. And their meals are designed to provide nutrients to keep energy levels up- which is a must for this mama.

The Megaformer

Who

SLT

What

My new addiction that I love to hate. This 50-minute class is designed to strengthen, lengthen and tone- hence the name SLT. Your muscles will quiver, or in my case shake like an earthquake. But your body will thank you later. If you’re local, I’ll be hosting a January Reboot at the Greenwich studio next month- let’s get together on that Megaformer!

The Quickie

Who

Countdown Fitness

What

I had the pleasure of touring this stunning new private gym on Greenwich’s Avenue a few weeks ago, and let’s just say I basically want to live there. The aesthetic is beyond- the dark space beautifully decorated with vintage sporting equipment, accented with welcoming, soft light. And the best part? The trainers use a slow burn method that requires only 30 minutes, once a week. Sign me up, please.
