Bananas
They say that as a mom, there are some days that you'll feel like you can barely get out of your pjs and brush your teeth; while other days you feel like you can rule the world.
For me, most days are somewhere in between- Maddie will always be fed, she has a daily bath, and most of the time (thanks to Nana) she'll be dressed to the nines; whereas you can usually find me in sweats, rarely getting half way through a cup of coffee before it turns ice cold.
But somehow yesterday was one of my more productive days- I called on the babysitter for a few hours to run to the gym, grab some groceries and (ahhh) shower. Maddie napped, leaving time to clean the house, do some laundry and make dinner for dad. And when she went to sleep, I had a little extra energy to put those six almost retired bananas to use- baking a loaf of bread for dad + MM, some healthy cookies for mom + slicing the rest to freeze for healthy ice cream.
These kind of days are rare- and after racking my brain I can only attribute them to Maddie's recent 11 hour sleeps at night- something I've waited for well over a year. Whatever the reason, we'll take it. Banana bread, anyone?
Best enjoyed on the kitchen counter- supervised, of course.
